COMMEMORATION OF OCTOBER 7 th AND ALL INNOCENT VICTIMS
On October 7th, we will commemorate the innocent victims who were killed, taken
hostage and injured on October 7th 2023 and thereafter. We will commemorate all
victims of the war in the Middle East. We commemorate all those who were
displaced and fled, for the wounded and for the relatives of all victims.
This commemoration and interreligious reflection meeting is supported by the
Council of Churches in the Netherlands, the interreligious Prinsjesdagviering, the
Hague Community of Churches, the Humanistic Alliance and imams in the
Netherlands. The meeting will take place in front of the Peace Palace in The Hague
(Carnegieplein 2).
The program is as follows:
• Brief speeches from the various movements: Jews, Muslims, Christians,
humanists.
• Lighting of a torch in memory of all victims and a moment of silence
• Attendees will be given the opportunity to write a peace wish
• Closing remarks by Mayor of The Hague, Mr. Jan van Zanen
The commemoration and interreligious meeting will take place on October 7th
from 8:15 PM to 9:00 PM.
This commemoration is initiated by imam Shamier Madhar, pastor Ad van der
Helm, Rabbi Awraham Soetendorp and political advisor Oliver van Loo. For inquiries
